Wes Riggs
PT, DPT, Owner/Director, Certified Active Release Technique ®, Certified Trigger Point Dry Needling, Certified Graston Provider
Wes has been practicing physical therapy for over 12 years in the outpatient orthopedic setting. He founded the Aurora-Southlands branch of Pro Active Physical Therapy in 2009. Wes received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2001. While at Ohio Wesleyan he also pitched for the varsity baseball team. He obtained a clinical doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Regis University in 2005. Wes has advanced certifications in Functional Trigger Point Dry Needling, Active Release Technique and Graston Soft Tissue Mobilization. He has extensive experience treating a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, sports injuries (youth to professional/Olympic) and neuromuscular impairments across age groups and ability levels. Wes’ clinical interests include, injury rehabilitation and prevention in athletes, overuse injuries in youth athletes and treating sub occipital headache pain. Wes also volunteers his time working with the Colorado Avalanche as well as the Grandview High School and Cherokee Trail High School sports teams. Outside of work, Wes enjoys spending time with his wife Lyndsie, daughter Harper and all varieties of sports.

Taya Skarda
PT, DPT, CSCS, COMT, Owner/Director
Taya is a North Carolina native with a passion for any outdoor activity and enjoys working with all age groups of athletes and weekend warriors. Taya has received her doctorate in physical therapy at Regis University and has worked in outpatient orthopedics for 10 years. She takes pride in continued education receiving certifications in dry needling, strength and conditioning, and orthopedic manual therapy. Her current interests are with cervical spine dysfunction and its impact on vestibular symptoms as well as post-concussion syndrome. Outside of work Taya enjoys hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding and traveling with her husband and 5-year-old son. Go TAR HEELS and Broncos!

Erin Hannigan
PT, DPT, MS
Erin graduated from the University of Colorado in 2019 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Prior to this she completed her Master of Neuroscience degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison and received a Bachelor of Art degree from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson New York. During her training, Erin enjoyed competing in collegiate soccer and track, Olympic and Ironman triathlons, and recreational basketball and yoga. Since joining the ProActive team, she has integrated additional certifications in dry needling and pelvic floor assessment and treatment into her clinical practice. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the mountains, running with her two dogs, and reading a good book.

David Gonzales

I am from Austin, Texas and have lived in Colorado since 2010, I consider Colorado home now. I attended Pima Medical Institute in Denver and graduated in 2016. as a Physical Therapist Assistant I am Functional Movement Technique certified by Rock Tape in IASTM, flossing, pods and taping. I have 4 years of experience working in inpatient rehab and 2 years experience in outpatient physical therapy, my focus now is in sports orthopedics and functional capacity evaluations In my free time I love to travel, photography and spending time with my beautiful wife and kids.
