Darrel Martin

Darrel received his undergraduate degree from University of Northern Colorado in Kinesiology (Athletic Training) and minor in Biological Science in 1996. He received a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Colorado Health Science Center in 1998. Darrel is a Licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer. Darrel has been treating athletes of all ages in Northern Colorado as well as the Denver Broncos (1995-2004). He holds manual therapy certifications in Active Release Techniques (ART), Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT), and Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) . Darrel specializes in treatment of orthopedic injuries, sports injuries, cumulative trauma disorders, and occupational injuries. Darrel has been treating patients in Greeley and surrounding areas for 20 years. He and his wife Sara have two children, Walker and Rylee. He enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golf, coaching and chasing his kids in all their sporting events.

Todd Smith

Todd received his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in Human Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Human Anatomy and Neurobiology in 1996. He received a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy (1998) and later completed his transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy (2008) from Regis University. He has over 20 years of Clinical Outpatient Orthopedic and Sports Medicine experience. He has served as affiliate faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy program at Regis University. Todd has successfully passed the Orthopedic Specialty Examination through the American Physical Therapy Association. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has been certified as an Active Release Technique (ART) provider. He has extensive experience treating a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, sports injuries (amateur to professional levels) and occupational injuries. Todd’s passion is to further develop his skills as a manual-based orthopedic Physical Therapist through a commitment to life-long learning. He enjoys time with his wife Stacy, son Tate and daughter Madeline.

Dan Goss
OTR, CHT Occupational Therapist Certified Hand Therapist
Dan received his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1993. He began his career in Lake Havasu City, Arizona where he specialized in hand therapy. In 1999, he joined the United States Navy as a Medical Service Core officer focusing in hand therapy. He spent the next 11 years as a hand therapist, working side by side with 9 board certified hand surgeons. His last duty station was in Washington D/C, where he was in charge of the Occupational Therapy Department at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. While there he also was assigned head of the Outpatient hand therapy program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D/C. During the 4 years of his assignment in Washington D/C, he had the opportunity to work with Senator’s, Congressmen, military personnel, their families and military personnel who were injured in the Iraq or Afghanistan war. Dan has been a hand therapist for over 19 years. During that time, he has made over 5000 custom splints and treated everything from tendonitis, carpal tunnel, upper extremity fractures to burns, gun shoot wounds, IED blast injuries and poly trauma. Dan is a native of Colorado and has returned home to Northern Colorado with his wife and 2 kids. In January 2013, Dan joined the outstanding team at Pro Active Physical Therapy where his 19 years of hand therapy experience are at work.

Colten Foster
PT, DPT, Physical Therapist, Certified Active Release Technique Provider ®, Blood Flow Restriction Provider
Colten is a licensed Physical Therapist and has a manual therapy certification in Active Release Techniques (ART). Before beginning his physical therapy school journey, Colten, a Greeley native, was a patient and high school intern at the clinic. While attending the University of Northern Colorado for his undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science, he worked as an aide and completed his college internship at ProActive as well. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas in 2018 and returned to ProActive again as a therapist following graduation. Colten enjoys treating numerous orthopedic injuries and conditions and working with athletes of all ages. Colten and his wife Devin will soon add their first addition to their family in June 2019. He enjoys working out, golf, hockey, adult league softball, fishing and spending time with family.

Amy Cawrse
OTR/L, CWCE, CEAS, Licensed Occupational Therapist, Certified Work Capacity Evaluator, Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist
Amy received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy with a Psychology minor from Eastern Michigan University in 1985. She began her career in Toledo, Ohio, where she specialized in psychiatric Occupational Therapy and Pain Management. Amy then pursued her certification in Functional Capacity Evaluation through Matheson’s Residency program in Chicago in 1990. She began to focus on treating work injuries through work hardening/conditioning and simulation of job tasks. She opened her own business, Core Work Solutions, and proceeded to treat injured workers at the worksite and developed Transitional Work programs and performed Job Analysis. She then worked for Athletico Physical Therapy, managing Worker’s Compensation programs for 13 clinics in both Michigan and Ohio, before moving to Colorado in 2019 to be closer to her family. Amy began her employment with Proactive Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine in 2019, performing FCE’s and establishing Work Conditioning/simulation programs for Worker’s Compensation patients. Amy enjoys hiking, playing tennis and spending time with her grandchildren.

Rachel Lehman
PTA Physical Therapist Assistant
Rachel is a Physical Therapist Assistant from Ames, Iowa. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Iowa State University, and continued on to become a PTA at Mercy College of Health Science. When Rachel is not at the clinic she loves spending time with her husband, hiking, playing volleyball, and enjoying all that Colorado has to offer.
